A famous actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, recently raised funds on Thursday for Climate Change in the Austrian town of Kitzbuehel. He put up paintings for sale painted by his dear friend & a fellow actor Sylvester Stallone & also a drum signed by famous musician Phil Collins. These paintings & the drum attracted a lot of buyers from the auction. There were so many people interested in buying the paintings & that drum put up during the auction.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was accompanied by his girlfriend Heather Milligan during the auction in which 170 guests were invited. There were 21 items auctioned which raised ($270,000) during the second edition of the “Charity Dinner for Climate Action” hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger. All this generous contribution was to be spent on the ambitious fight against “Climate Change” which is becoming dangerous & a collective thought & action plan is being driven up to save the world from negative effects of Climate Change & to reduce CO2 emissions by planting trees & stop producing energy from fossil fuels.
A lot of famous personalities attended the auction. Lindsey Vonn, who won Spain’s Princess of Asturias Sports Award in 2019 was also present there along with other numerous celebrities & well known personalities mainly from Austria & Germany. All the well-known personalities were cheering up the buyers & contributing towards this generous initiative.
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger thanked everyone who donated & said “Your generous contributions will support our efforts to end pollution and protect our environment”.
There were a lot of things donated during the auction. Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger & German international Michael Ballack signed soccer jerseys, Vonn signed a ski & a replica of leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger during Terminator 2 were notable things donated during the auction catalog. A platinum ring with a set diamond using compressed carbon dioxide which was extracted from the atmosphere also signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger was also on the bidding list starting from 10,000 Euros.
There were some more expensive things also on the bidding list, a painting by Stallone whose bidding started from 20,000 Euros, a party at the famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger home for 40,000 Euros & Audemars Piguet watch for hefty 50,000 Euros.
All the generous money collected from this auction catalog was to be donated to “Climate Change” initiative launched by Arnold Schwarzenegger during the Austrian World Summit launched in Vienna during 2017. This initiative to fight against climate change was joined by leading actors, politicians & activists from all over the world.
The purpose of this fundraising was not only to raise funds but to seek collective guidance & technical knowledge to overcome hurdles in the fight against Climate Change and to raise awareness against it. The initiative also seeks guidance & workable solutions to fully implement the ideas & thoughts shared during the auction.
Climate Change is causing long term shifts in temperatures all over the world. It is causing water scarcity, dangerously rising sea levels, melting glaciers & warmer temperatures. The temperature on Earth is on average 1.1 °C warmer compared to the 1800’s. It is also affecting our health & food productivity. The temperature is projected to rise 2.8°C by 2100. Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), Paris Agreement & UN Framewor Convention on Climate Change are global frameworks supported by countries all over the world to develop a mechanism to avoid the effects of Climate Change. The main objectives of this global framework is to reduce emissions, adapt climate impacts & prepare a plan for finance related requirements.
Actor Arnold also shared his viewpoint during the auction & said “We can start to build a real movement on the basis of hope & optimism”.
A hefty sum of $973,000 was raised during the second edition of this auction in 2020.
Along with the things mentioned above, a replica of World Boxing Championship belt signatured by Vladimir Klitschko, the brother of Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko & boxing gloves signatured by two former athletes were also held up for auction. All the money raised from belt & gloves were to be donated for humanitarian projects in Ukraine whose infrastructure suffered a blow after the 2014 war with Russia.
